How to Send Discord Messages for New Tasks in ClickUp – ClickUp Discord Integration

This post will cover the integration of ClickUp with Discord, enabling your team to receive automatic notifications of newly added tasks via a Discord channel message.
This automation requires a one-time setup, for which we will use Pabbly Connect.
First, we’ll link ClickUp to Pabbly Connect to collect new task information, and then we’ll link Pabbly Connect to Discord and send a message to your team members via Discord with the relevant task details.

Steps to Automatically Share ClickUp Tasks on Discord Channel

1. Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow
2. Setup ClickUp as the Trigger App to Fetch New Tasks
3. Setup Discord as the Action App to Share Tasks

Step 1:- Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow

A. Sign In / Sign Up

To begin this process, visit Pabbly Connect and create your account by clicking on the ‘Sign Up Free’ button. You can also click on Sign In if you already have an account.

Click on the Pabbly Connect ‘Access Now’ button

B. Create Workflow

To create a new workflow, click the ‘Create Workflow’ button.

Name your workflow, and click on ‘Create’.

Step 2:- Setup ClickUp as the Trigger App to Fetch New Tasks

We will now look at the process of establishing a connection between ClickUp and Pabbly Connect. This connection will enable us to retrieve recently created ClickUp tasks.

A. Trigger App

Trigger enables us to select the application from which Pabbly Connect will retrieve the data. In this instance, it would be ClickUp.

Choose ‘ClickUp’ as the Trigger App, select ‘New Task’ as a Trigger Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect ClickUp Account

To connect with your ClickUp account, select ‘Add New Connection’. You will be prompted to enter your API Token.

Login to your ClickUp account, and click on your ‘Profile Icon’ > ‘Apps’.

Copy your API Token, paste it into its give field, and click on ‘Save’.

Choose the Workspace, Space, Folder, and List for which you wish to capture data, and then click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

Expand the ‘Response Received’ section to view the details of the most recent task that you created.

Step 3:- Setup Discord as the Action App to Share Tasks

Action allows us to choose the application that will get executed by the workflow trigger.
Our goal is to notify our team members about newly added ClickUp tasks on a Discord channel. To achieve this, we will be using Discord as our Action App.

A. Action App

Choose ‘Discord’ as the Action App, select ‘Send Channel Message (HTML)’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect Discord Account

To establish a connection between Pabbly Connect and your Discord account, you will need a Webhook URL. Follow these steps to generate the Webhook URL and then copy and paste it into the corresponding field. This will connect Discord with Pabbly Connect.

C. Map Necessary Details

After successfully connecting your Discord account, the next step is to map the task details from the previous step. Mapping ensures that our data remains dynamic and updates according to the received responses.

Compose a Message by mapping the details from the step above.

In a similar manner, map the other required fields, leaving the unnecessary ones empty. Then, click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

As soon as you click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’, the task will be shared on your Discord channel.

Our automation setup is now complete. By integrating ClickUp with Discord, every time you add a new task to your ClickUp account, it will automatically be shared on the Discord channel you selected.
