In this section, we will discuss how you can integrate Google Drive with Telegram, following which, each time you upload a new file in a specific Google Drive folder, it will automatically be shared with your team members on Telegram.
This automation requires a one-time setup, for which we will use Pabbly Connect.
We will first link Google Drive with Pabbly Connect to capture the files, then link Pabbly Connect with Telegram and share the file on the selected Telegram group.

2. Establish a Connection between Google Drive and Pabbly Connect

Step 2:- Establish a Connection between Google Drive and Pabbly Connect
We will now look at the steps through which we will establish a link between Google Drive and Pabbly Connect. This will help us to fetch the files from Google Drive.
A. Trigger App
Trigger allows us to choose the application that will receive the data for Pabbly Connect. In our case, it would be Google Drive
Choose ‘Google Drive’ as the Trigger App, select ‘New File in Specific Folder’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.
B. Connect Google Drive Account
To connect with your Google Drive account, select ‘Add New Connection’ and click on ‘Connect With Google Drive’. Also, grant the authorization.
Select the Folder whose file you want to capture, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.
The moment you click on Save & Send Test Request, Pabbly Connect will capture the data of the latest file uploaded to your Google Drive account.
We have established a link between Google Drive and Pabbly Connect. Pabbly Connect will now automatically capture the files uploaded to Google Drive.
Step 3:- Add Text Formatter to the Workflow
The title we captured from Google Drive contains an extension. To remove this extension – we will add a Text Formatter to our workflow.
Choose ‘Text Formatter by Pabbly’ as your Action App, select ‘Split Text’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.
In Text to Split Field, map the title from the trigger step.
Enter ‘.’ as the Separator.
To retain the entire data on the left side of the period, select ‘First’ as the Segment Index, and click ‘Save And Send Test Request’.
We have successfully removed the extension from the captured title.
Step 4:- Setup Telegram as the Action App to Share Files
Action allows us to choose the application that will get executed by the workflow trigger.
We essentially want to share the captured Google Drive files on the Telegram group. Therefore, Telegram Bot will be our Action App.
A. Action App
Choose ‘Telegram Bot’ as the Action App, select ‘Send a Document/Image’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.
B. Connect Telegram Account
To connect with your Telegram account, select ‘Add New Connection’. You will be asked to enter your Token. Go to ‘https://telegram.me/BotFather’ and click on ‘Send Message’.
C. Create a New Bot
To capture files from Telegram, you are required to have a bot. Type ‘/newbot’ and send the message.
Give your new bot a Name and a Username, by entering both when asked.
Copy the API Token, paste it into its given field, and click on ‘Save’.
Add your bot to the group you want to send the message to.
D. Enter / Map the Necessary Fields
Now that you have connected your Telegram account and created your new bot, all you need is to map the necessary details from the step above. Mapping ensures our data remains dynamic and changes as per the received responses.
Copy and paste the Chat ID from your telegram group URL.
Map the Caption from the step above.
Similarly, map the URL/File ID, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.
As soon as you click on Save & Send Test Request, your Google Drive File will be sent over to the Telegram group.
Our automation is complete. We have successfully integrated Google Drive with Telegram. Each time you upload a new file in Google Drive, it will automatically be shared on your chosen Telegram group.
