How to Automatically Save Your Tweets in MS Excel Spreadsheet

  • by

Let’s discuss how you can integrate Twitter with MS Excel and automatically save your tweets in a new row of your MS Excel spreadsheet.
This automation requires a one-time setup, for which we will use Pabbly Connect.
We will first link Twitter with Pabbly Connect to capture the tweets, then link Pabbly Connect with MS Excel and save the posted tweets in MS Excel.

Steps to Automatically Save Your Tweets in MS Excel Spreadsheet

1. Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow
2. Establish a link between Twitter and Pabbly Connect
3. Add Date / Time Formatter to Correct Date Format
4. Setup MS Excel as the Action App to Record Tweets

Step 1:- Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow

A. Sign In / Sign Up

To begin this process, visit Pabbly Connect and create your account by clicking on the ‘Sign Up Free’ button. You can also click on Sign In if you already have an account.

Click on the Pabbly Connect ‘Access Now’ button

B. Create Workflow

To create a new workflow, click the ‘Create Workflow’ button.

Name your workflow, and click on ‘Create’.

We will now look at the steps through which we will establish a link between Twitter and Pabbly Connect – This will help us capture each new tweet posted on your Twitter account.

A. Trigger App

Trigger allows us to choose the application that will receive the data for Pabbly Connect. In our case, it would be Twitter.
Choose ‘Twitter’ as your Trigger App, select ‘New Tweet’ as the Trigger Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect Twitter Account

To connect with your Twitter account, select ‘Add New Connection’, and click on ‘Connect With Twitter’. Also, grant the authorization.

C. Test Connection

To test this established connection, we will now post a tweet and check for the received response.
Log in to your Twitter account, post a tweet, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

Pabbly Connect has fetched the details of your tweet, thus confirming the connection.

Step 3:- Add Date / Time Formatter to Correct Date Format

The Date we captured from Twitter is in an incorrect format. Before recording the date in MS Excel, we will correct its format by adding a Date/Time Formatter to our workflow.

Choose ‘Date/Time Formatter by Pabbly’ as the Action App, select ‘Format Date Only’ as an Action App, and click on ‘Connect’.

Map the Date from the trigger step.

In From Format, select the current format of your date.

Select ‘DD-MM-YYYY’ as the To Format, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

Step 4:- Setup MS Excel as the Action App to Record Tweets

Action allows us to choose the application that will get executed by the workflow trigger.
We essentially want to save the Tweets in MS Excel. Thus, MS Excel will be our Action App.

Add another Action Step to your workflow by clicking the ‘+’ button.

A. Action App

Choose ‘Microsoft Excel’ as your Action App, select ‘Add Row To Worksheet’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect Microsoft Excel Account

To connect with your Microsoft Excel account, select ‘Add New Connection’, and click on ‘Connect With Microsoft Excel’. Also, grant the authorization.

Select the Workbook and Worksheet you want to use for storing your data.

As soon as you select your sheet, the columns of this sheet will start reflecting as fields in your Action Step.

C. Map Necessary Fields

Now that you have connected your Microsoft Excel account, all you need is to map the necessary details from the steps above. Mapping ensures our data remains dynamic and changes as per the received responses.

Map the Date from the step above.

Similarly, map the other fields, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

The moment you click on Save & Send Test Request, the data will start reflecting in your MS Excel spreadsheet.
Note: Pabbly Connect checks for the data from Twitter every 10 minutes, so any new tweet may not be visible immediately.

Our automation is complete. We have successfully integrated Twitter with MS Excel. Each time you post a new tweet, it will automatically be saved in your MS Excel spreadsheet.
