How to Automatically Save New Tweets in Notion Database

  • by

In this post, we will look at how you can integrate Twitter with Notion and automatically save your tweets in a new row of your Notion database.
This automation requires a one-time setup, for which we will use Pabbly Connect.
We will first link Twitter with Pabbly Connect to capture the tweets, then link Pabbly Connect with Notion and save the posted tweed in Notion.

Steps to Automatically Save New Tweets in Notion Database

1. Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow
2. Establish a link between Twitter and Pabbly Connect
3. Add Text Formatter to the Workflow
4. Setup Notion as the Action App to Save Tweets

Step 1:- Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow

A. Sign In / Sign Up

To begin this process, visit Pabbly Connect and create your account by clicking on the ‘Sign Up Free’ button. You can also click on Sign In if you already have an account.

Click on the Pabbly Connect ‘Access Now’ button

B. Create Workflow

To create a new workflow, click the ‘Create Workflow’ button.

Name your workflow, and click on ‘Create’.

We will now look at the steps through which we will establish a link between Twitter and Pabbly Connect – This will help us capture each new tweet posted to your Twitter account.

A. Trigger App

Trigger allows us to choose the application that will receive the data for Pabbly Connect. In our case, it would be Twitter.
Choose ‘Twitter’ as your Trigger App, select ‘New Tweet’ as the Trigger Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect Twitter Account

To connect with your Twitter account, select ‘Add New Connection’, and click on ‘Connect With Twitter’. Also, grant the authorization.

C. Test Connection

To test this established connection, we will now post a tweet and check for the received response.
Log in to your Twitter account, post a tweet, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

Expand Response Received, under which the details of your tweets must be visible. Thus, confirming the established connection.

Step 3:- Add Text Formatter to the Workflow

In some instances, you may want to save a link to your tweet in a separate column of your Notion database. For that, we will add a Text Formatter to our workflow and separate the link from the captured tweets.

Choose ‘Text Formatter by Pabbly’ as your Action App, select ‘Split Text’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

In Text to Split Field, map the tweet posted from the step above.

Enter ‘https’ as your Separator to indicate from where the text is needed to be separated.

To retain the entire data on either side of the space, select ‘All’ as the Segment Index, and click ‘Save And Send Test Request’.

The link is now separated from the original tweet.

Step 4:- Setup Notion as the Action App to Save Tweets

Action allows us to choose the application that will get executed by the workflow trigger.
We essentially want to save the captured Tweets in our Notion database. Thus, Notion will be our Action App.

Add another Action Step to your workflow by clicking the ‘+’ button.

A. Action App

Choose ‘Notion’ as your Action App, select ‘Create Database Item’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect Notion Account

To connect with your Notion account, select ‘Add New Connection’, and click on ‘Connect With Notion’.

Select the Database where you want to save the tweets.

As soon as you select your database, the properties of this database will start reflecting as fields in your Action Step.

C. Map Necessary Fields

Now that you have connected your Notion account, all you need is to map the necessary details from the steps above. Mapping ensures our data remains dynamic and changes as per the received responses.

Map the Tweet Text from the step above.

Similarly, map the other fields, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

The moment you click on Save & Send Test Request, the tweet will be saved in your Notion database.

Our automation is complete. We have successfully integrated Twitter with Notion. Each time you post a new tweet, it will automatically be saved in your Notion database.
