How to Automatically Send SMS to HubSpot Contacts | HubSpot Twilio Integration

In this post, we will cover the steps involved in integrating HubSpot with Twilio. Upon successful integration, every time a new contact is added to your HubSpot contact list, they will receive an SMS message automatically through Twilio.
This automation requires a one-time setup, for which we will use Pabbly Connect.
The initial step of this automation process is to link HubSpot with Pabbly Connect to retrieve details of newly added contacts. Subsequently, we will link Pabbly Connect with Twilio and send the captured contacts an SMS message using Twilio.

Steps to Automatically Send SMS to HubSpot Contacts Via Twilio

1. Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow
2. Setup HubSpot CRM as the Trigger App to Fetch Contacts
3. Setup Twilio as the Action App to Send SMS

Step 1:- Sign In / Sign Up to Pabbly Connect and Create a Workflow

A. Sign In / Sign Up

To begin this process, visit Pabbly Connect and create your account by clicking on the ‘Sign Up Free’ button. You can also click on Sign In if you already have an account.

Click on the Pabbly Connect ‘Access Now’ button

B. Create Workflow

To create a new workflow, click the ‘Create Workflow’ button.

Name your workflow, and click on ‘Create’.

Step 2:- Setup HubSpot CRM as the Trigger App to Fetch Contacts

Now, we will go over the steps required to connect HubSpot and Pabbly Connect, which will enable us to capture contact information from HubSpot CRM.

A. Trigger App

Trigger allows us to choose the application that will receive the data for Pabbly Connect. In our case, it would be HubSpot CRM.

Choose ‘HubSpot CRM’ as the Trigger App, select ‘New Contact Added’ as a Trigger Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect HubSpot Account

To connect with your HubSpot account, select ‘Add New Connection’ and click on ‘Connect With HubSpot CRM’. Also, grant the authorization.

Choose the Output Properties, and click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

Expand the Response Received section to ensure that the contact details are visible, which will confirm that our connection has been successfully established.

Step 3:- Setup Twilio as the Action App to Send SMS

Action allows us to choose the application that will get executed by the workflow trigger.
Our primary goal to send HubSpot contacts a customized SMS through Twilio. Therefore, Twilio will be our Action App.

A. Action App

Choose ‘Twilio’ as the Action App, select ‘Send SMS Message’ as an Action Event, and click on ‘Connect’.

B. Connect Twilio Account

To establish a connection with your Twilio account, select ‘Add New Connection’, and you will be prompted to provide your Account SID and Authorization Token.

Copy both Account SID and Authorization Token.

Paste the Account SID and Authorization Token in their corresponding fields, then click on ‘Save’.

C. Compose an SMS

You have the option to write a static message or include variables in your message by mapping the contact details from the previous step. These variables will be dynamic and will change based on the response received.

Compose an SMS message by mapping the contact details obtained from the previous step.

Copy your Twilio phone number from the Twilio dashboard and paste it in the Sender Number field.

Map the Recipient Number obtained from the previous step and then click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’.

Once you click on ‘Save & Send Test Request’, an SMS will be sent to the recipient’s mobile number.

Our automation process is finished, and we have successfully integrated HubSpot with Twilio. Going forward, whenever a new contact is added to your HubSpot account, the same contact will receive an SMS message via Twilio.
